What hotel is the best hotel to stay in near the Port of Miami where the Carnival cruise ships are?

We are looking for a nice place to stay the night before our cruise that possibly provides transportation to our Carnival cruise ship. We're not looking for a 5-star hotel that costs $500/night, but we want to be somewhere safe. Any frequent cruisers have any suggestions?
