Changing a radiator fan motor worth the money?

Okay, so I am currently looking at a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser ( Please do not comment on how bad a PT Cruiser is. That is not what I'm asking.) and the PT Cruiser is a 2002 with 91,000 miles. Everything works. The only problem is that it needs a new radiator fan motor. Would my dad be able to buy a fan motor and change it out himself without losing an arm and a leg? They are asking $2,500. Is it worth it? Thanks so much!
