Is it a good idea to buy a Honda CB/CM 400A as a cruiser?

I have a 175cc SYM HD200 scooter and LOVE it but it's too small and uncomfortable to ride long distance. Looking for a cheap and reliable small vintage bike(max. 500cc) to travel across country.
